In last weeks journaling exercise we focused on the physical, mental and emotional areas of our lives. This week, I would like for you to reflect over what you wrote. What lessons did you learn about you and your life? What is the root cause of any maladaptive behaviors? If you aren’t sure, begin to think back on when that behavior started for you. What was happening in your life? What purpose did the behaviors serve? Do you still need these behaviors today? Most likely the situations that brought about the behaviors is over. What behaviors do you want to display instead of that behaviors? Focus o changing one behavior at a time. Research how to begin to live out this new behavior. If you find you are still using maladaptive behaviors in your life today and they are proving counterproductive to the life you want to live. Seek therapy to help you make the changes you want your life to reflect.
